Australia announce Head Coach for the 2025 WJLC

MELBOURNE, VICTORIA, AUSTRALIA - Australia is proud to announce and welcome Wade Hammond as the Head Coach for the Australian Junior Box Lacrosse team, set to compete at the 2025 IIJL World Junior Lacrosse Championship.

Wade Hammond

Wade Hammond began his lacrosse journey in Eltham, VIC, at the young age of 8. As a distinguished player, Wade represented Australia at the World Indoors in 2007, 2011 (as Captain), and 2015, participating in numerous Victorian championship teams.

Wade started his coaching career in 2012 with the Fury in the VicBox League and led Victoria to a Senior National title in that same year.

His passion for lacrosse and career eventually took him to Western Australia, where he coached the Men's Senior WA Box team from 2018 to 2023, clinching the National title in 2020.

In 2023, he expanded his coaching portfolio by leading the WA Senior Women's team at the Nationals and coaching the WA Junior team, which competed at the inaugural IIJL Commonwealth Cup in Altona, Melbourne, Australia.

His remarkable leadership in these roles led to his initial selection as the Head Coach of the Australian Junior team in 2023. Following this, Wade served as the Assistant Coach for the Australian Senior Box Lacrosse team in 2024 at the World Lacrosse Championship.

Hammond eagerly returns to his role in 2025 to lead the Junior team once more. "Box lacrosse is really starting to grow in Australia," says Hammond. "It will be great to play against some of the best in this age bracket. Hopefully, the guys learn some new skills, and this continues to grow our game."
